TEASING THE THREAD: How to Unlock a Series

JOIN IN THE FUN 👉

How can we naturally expand our work using our current work as a starting point? This workshop led by Zak Foster and Amanda Nadig will be a guided conversation about how we can tap into our current work to find pathways forward for future work.

The BEST PART of this workshop will be the magic YOU bring: there will be a guided conversations in small groups where you can share one recent textile piece with the group and brainstorm potential pathways for future work together.

Come with one quilt and leave with a hundred ideas! (And maybe a few new friends)

I am a writer, a mother, and ancestral healer living on Tonkawa, Comanche and Lipan Apache land in what is now Central Texas.

During my 13 years as a food writer, I used my weekly newspaper column to explore community, connection and personal growth through the lens of food. Healing my family roots and ancestral wounds became the “why” for my work.

And then I found tarot.

Tarot cards have been used as a form of folk psychology for more than 500 years. With a long history in Europe, particularly among the Romani, who have suffered greatly to carry on the practice, all 78 of the tarot cards have medicine, including the Death card, which is one of my favorites. (And thus the name of my business.)

I now use these cards and the questions they ask as part of my ancestral healing work — which also uses art, music, nature and our real and imagined family trees to get a new perspective on grief, codependency, humility and strength.

This work dramatically transformed my life.

"This community is so welcoming, accepting and open. I feel encouraged and enlivened to create my way."

"I didn't have any friends who quilt, so before I found the NOOK, I had to cobble together techniques from YouTube. Now I have access to a whole community who can answer my questions."

Excited about the NOOK but have a question?

Excited about the NOOK but have a question?

I’m on Instagram and Facebook. Why do I need to join a community?

Social media can be a wonderful resource. It brought you here after all! But many of us have complex relationships with these apps. There are several reasons, but most importantly, there’s no defined community on social media. We can post and share there, but when do we actually connect with others?

What if I don’t live in the US?

Quite alright! We’re an international community that spans nearly 20 countries. Because of our geographic diversity, we offer programming across multiple time zones.

How much does the NOOK cost?

Current monthly plans start at $9 USD/month. We want to keep membership as accessible as possible. Sliding scale options and scholarships are available.

Is there a free trial?

Yes! Join today and you’ll have a 3-day free trial period with the option to cancel at any time.

How does the NOOK support BIPOC and LGBTQ+ members?

Our diversity is our strength, and we do our best to make sure everyone feels invited, welcomed, and valued in the NOOK. We regularly invite queer makers and makers of color to lead workshops and guide the direction of the NOOK. There are also private rooms set aside in the NOOK for both BIPOC and LGBTQ+ makers to connect.

What if I’m not good with technology?

The NOOK is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly. If you ever have any questions, we're always here to help!

Can I leave anytime I want?

Yes, there is no time commitment. Stay for as long or as little as you'd like. (But we'll try our best to win you over!)
